2015 Post-IPO Stock Performance Marked By Divergence

Tuesday, August 18, 2015 8:25:00 AM PDT | VentureDeal

Venture-backed technology companies that floated their initial stock offerings in 2015 have had a wild ride, no doubt due in part to the gyrating stock market:

The most active sectors, Biotech and Pharma, showed the highest variance in stock performance during the period ending 7.31.2015. Some biotechs were up in excess of 150% from their IPO price, while others were down nearly 50%.

Pharmaceutical companies showed a similar pattern.

Interestingly, Medical Devices had only one firm out of six end the period down, and that was only slightly, so it gets the "best performer" industry in our scoring.

Alas, the Software and IT sectors had uneven performance, while Ecommerce, Security and Storage firms ended up during the period.
