AveXis Adds Series D Venture Funding Round

   Dallas, Texas  --  Biotechnology company AveXis has secured $65 million in its fourth round of venture capital investment.

AveXis is developing what it calls "unique industry and research alliances" to help with its focus on treatment for spinal muscular atrophy.

The company said it would use the proceeds to advance its ongoing spinal muscular atrophy clinical program and expand key operational capabilities.

Investors in the round were led by accounts and funds managed by T Rowe Price Associates.

Existing investors, such as Deerfield Management, Roche Venture Fund and Venrock participated along with additional new investors Janus Capital Management, Adage Capital Management, RA Capital Management, Rock Springs Capital Management, Foresite Capital Management and others.
