Q4 15 Venture Capital Debt Deals Rebound

Menlo Park, California  --  North American venture capital database VentureDeal tracks venture capital debt transactions for technology companies spanning 41 general technology and life science industries.

The chart below shows the number of venture capital debt deals by month for calendar year 2015:



After dropping to as low as 32 deals in November, December saw a sharp rise to 49 deals, the third highest month of the year.

An increase in venture capital debt financings can be an indicator of stress in the market, as companies may be having difficulty coming to agreement with equity investors and need additional funding as mezzanine or bridge facilities.

World stock markets volatility may be contributing to a more uncertain financing environment for technology startups in the short term.

Data sources used were company announcements as well as SEC filings and other reputable sources.
