iPhone And The Culture Of Technology

Published: 7/6/2007 11:01:26 AM

Even though I scoffed at the idea of standing in line for days just to get an iPhone when you could order one online that same night and get it within 3-5 days, I still enjoyed the entire spectacle.

I really think it reveals something about our collective desire to transform ourselves.  I think Americans are at the forefront of this concept, though we don't own it by any stretch.

Computers, the Internet, electronics, have all been re-purposed from their original design intent in order to allow individuals to transform themselves.  Transformations that provide new ways to communicate with each other.

The culture of technology is a good thing, or at least not a negative, if it promotes communication.  It may be the most powerful 'culture' that America produces.
